Granny's Oatmeal Cookies

     
 
Preheat oven to 375°.
Sift together in a large bowl:

2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Add:
2 cups quick cooking oatmeal
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup softened shortening
2 eggs, unbeaten
1/3 cup of milk (use buttermilk for extra richness)
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat until blended. 2/3 cup raisins and/or nuts can be blended in by hand, if desired. Bake 13 minutes.
