  Sugar Cookies      
 
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk + 2 Tbsp. vinegar
4 cups flour
Preheat oven to 350°. Milk and eggs should be at room temperature. Blend sugar, eggs, salt, and shortening until creamy. Add baking powder and vanilla. Add the soda to the soured milk (milk + vinegar); add alternately with flour to creamed mixture. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 min.
